They do the same with retired navy boats. They fill the boats with enough explosives to sink them, just so the fish and other marine life have somewhere to grow. But don't fret, they remove all equipment and fluids that would damage the marine life before doing this. It's kind of like a good way to recycle but it's also kind of like polluting the ocean at the same time. Mixed feelings are associated with this. n_blush

safe? ... yeah right .. if all the pollutants and fluids are removed then why the paint is still on them .... and don't tell my it's eco paint because the paint used was made some decades ago and no one made eco paint in that time - acetone or oil based paint - SO NO IT'S NOT SAFE
