About 10,000 Filipino families live in the northern town cemetery in Manila.
Some of them got there by accident. Some inherited the mausoleums from their great-grandparents and now live in there. Others came from the province and are unable to earn enough money to live in a big city.
In all cases, mainly families have nowhere to go.

Trust me, that's A LOT BETTER than living in the dumpsites or "a box under a bridge", where the main river, Pasig River, becomes the metropolis' drainage.

As Asians, it's not really something to be feared to be near the dead. It's just part of the culture. Heck, spirit worship used to be the dominant religion in the Philippines. I just hope my countrymen's lives will be better.

im glad i live in america, the land of the free and the home of the brave. i feel so sorry for these people... i always thought that europe was rich but obviously if they have to live in cemeteries... they are not that rich. God bless america.
