Oil companies are the major reason we are still using fossil fuels, and every day that goes by they are making more money and negative externalities for us.

Blame Obama of course. Do you think McCain and Sarah "Drill, Baby, Drill" Palin would have done better?
And there has been offshore drilling for quite some time, just not in that part of the gulf.
