24 = 100% -> 12 = 50% -> 150% = 36

24/100=0,24. That is 1% of 24.
50% more is then 0,24*50, which equals 12.
24+12=36.
Your mistake here:
24 + 0.5 * 24 = 1.5 * 24 = 24 + 12 = 36. Should be:
24 + 0.5 * 24 = 24 + 0,5 * 24 = 24 + 12 = 36.
