Some of them might be 'lack-o-confidence' but maybe it's a mixture of trying to be respectful (i.e. not mister grabby hands) especially when some of the women are wearing swimsuits, yes that and a bit of nervousness.

I think it's all of the above: lack of confidence, respect, and fear. Mostly, it's fear because I can imagine these guys have experienced many rejections from girls so they're afraid they're gonna get slapped if they make some "skin contact". You know, because if it wasn't for the picture the girls wouldn't allow these guys to touch them.

I'm a girl and it's weird when a guy does that.
