Rhino horns are of high demand on the black market. Poachers kill hundreds of animals in order to sell their “treasure”. About 800 rhinoceros were destroyed by poachers in the last three years.
The Kragga Kamma Game Park workers regularly hold special activities in order to protect South African rhinoceros from being poached. They restrain a rhino and let veterinarians to saw off its horn. A rhino whose horn has been removed is not interesting for poarches, so its life is out of danger.We just wonder what rhinos in Port Elizabeth Game Park think about such protecting measures?
