It is an odd day indeed when we bring you news of a new meat product that is created from you guessed it... shit!

A Japanese researcher from Okayama laboratory is working on an artificial meat based on the protein from human crap. Professor Ikeda believes that this is a viable meat substitute.

He found that sewage mud is high in protein because of the bacteria in human feces that it is a viable choice. He has been working on a way to create the meat substitute. The live bacteria is killed during the heating process so it is safe to eat or so the good Professor says!

The shit meat tastes like beef and after adding a red food coloring it almost looks like beef. At the moment it costs a lot more than real beef due to the research, but they are hoping that once it goes into mass production the cost will be cheaper than real meat.
