Korean Virtual Grocery Store vs Norwegian Old-Fashioned Grocery Store (12 pics)

Check out these truly amazing grocery store concepts food shoppers.

« Homeplus Smart Virtual Store » is a virtual grocery store that is located on the Seolleung subway station in Seoul, South Korea.

Why go to a grocery store for your weekly sustenance when you can use your Smart Phone to scan pictures of items on the side of a subway train? South Korean market Homeplus has implemented this brilliant idea for busy commuters and to compete against the mighty E-mart chain.

Customers simply scan a QR code in their phone, which drops products into their online shopping cart. Once they are finished they pay online and their items are delivered to their homes within a few hours.

This is a Norwegian concept of a grocery store where there are no storeowners and no cashiers. It is an old-fashioned business model of shop owners trusting their patrons. Norwegian farmers set up small local stores, filled them with food and literally left them open for business.

Buyers would come in, gather what they needed and drop their money in a handy bowl or box. There was even a calculator to help out the less mathematically inclined. Trust in your fellow humans? What is the world coming to?

from #2, it's not ON the side of the subway train... it's on the side of the walls dividing the tracks from the waiting area. if it was inside the train or on the sides of the train, that sure would create some difficulties of various sorts.

This is very common in Norway, farmers open a store that is open 24/7 with no cashier, where they sell their products like homemade honey, blueberryjuice, rassberry-jelly, milk, eggs and so on. Some even take card! Its really cute, tastes like nothing else and is easy to get ;) Its important to support the locals =D
