if more people lived this life style (and variations), civilisation would be a whole lot more sustainable.

This is dumpster diving. And it's as old as the hills. Like lolled [Today, 01:40] said above me here , Hobos have been doing this for years. Just one more thing today's hipster gets wrong about thinking they were the fist to come up with this idea.

I think they do participate in 'our' economy anyway.

I wonder why they won't move outside towns and grown their own food. But this would require real work ...

maybe the supermarket threw away a lot of stuff, but will their children be proud of what their parent is doing? and will the parent be proud if the kids follow their footsteps, is my question...

will their children care when dumpster diving is the thing that's keeping them alive, and only their parents are willing to do it for them?

and will the parent be proud if the kids follow their footsteps, is my question...

they should be more than proud, considering where the world is heading. that is, teaching their kids to sustain themselves in collapsing world should make any parent proud.

Not very healthy on the long run. I think I still just buy my fresh food from the supermarket and make sure I eat it all.

WTF??? Its funny i remember that we used to have to do that as kids because we were dirt poor and we were hungry - whats even funnier is how things that people have doing for survival for yeas and frowned upon by society i.e homeless people, is now a fucking "cool/progressive" movement.
