When the lid is opened, the Mento candy drops into the Diet Coke and causes an enormous reaction. Google "diet coke mentos" and you'll see what will happen.

This is an awesome prank. Just make sure you aren't around when it goes off.

Better to dangle the Mento's in the cola. It'll take too long for the action to happen if you just dropped it in. The Mento dissolved in the cola will really cause an explosion when you open the cap.

diet coke is real shit.. it may have 0 calories or taste acceptable but you gain weight like motherfucker. i've lost 15kg (~30 pounds) after i stopped drinking it.
