Police officers have found booby traps in a tree shelter locally known as “The Fort” in Provo Canyon, Utah, which is the popular place to recreate for many families.
The Forest Patrol Officer who was on foot patrol had had a military experience of identifying booby trap devices, so he immediately noticed trip wires stretched across the entrance to the shelter. The first wire triggered a large rock with sharp sticks attached to it to swing into the unsuspecting person’s head. Another wire was meant to cause the hiker or camper to fall head first onto sharpened sticks placed in the ground. Later, two suspects of 19 and 21 years old were identified and confessed of placing the traps.
