Born in 1930, Rene Maltête began taking pictures at the age of 16. With an eye for detail and a love of humour, his photographs amused the audience and were often thought-provoking or slightly philosophical in nature.

#22 Is faked. No air hose to the jack hammer.

Not so much fake as staged... But then, 90% of photography is staging. Very rarely are there any good, true candid shots.

The art comes in the IDEA to set something up so it looks a certain way like DarkWolf has stated.

thanks for this series. i still find subtle euro humor to be highly enjoyable.

nowadays popular culture has devolved to the lowest common denominator of idiocy. gentle humor is gone, and one person sneaking up behind another and smashing them with a weapon is the current "funny." and a thousand other variations. no shades of grey, no subtlety, no nuance... the best way to describe it is probably de-evolution... the human brain growing more stupid, not smarter.
