What whiner put these together? It looks like there are other seats available in the pix of normal people simply putting their bag on a seat. When the train gets more full then most people start putting their bags on their laps. And if the train is full and you want to sit where someone has their bag you simply say, "May I sit there?" and voila! you can!

I haven't run into this situation all that much (since I use public transportation infrequently) but when I do, I just say: "excuse me" and I sit down. If they don't move their bag/purse/shoes/whatever, I sit on it.

Fuck 'em.

I was in New York recently and apart from being mugged 3 times, verbally abused more times than I can mention and raped once, I found it to be a wonderful place with fantastic people.
