don't most makes have plain / flat sections for when a component isn't installed? (like that radio) maybe he just ordered the stock piece and ran with it.

but it would be interesting if he could use the tablet for more than just a music player... maybe get some engine / performance sensors hacked up with the right app.

He probably bought it for a different in-dash display and had to trim it to the size he wanted.

Bluetooth Obd scanner less than $10.00 on ebay.
The Android app that i use is OBD lite..
Displays Speed,Turbo boost, RPMs, Currant draw and code faults...
