Thomas Plunkett

An Irish soldier in the British 95th Rifles, Thomas Plunkett impressively took down French general Auguste-Marie-François Colbert. He did so with an incredibly inaccurate early 19th century rifle from about 600 meters away. While his fellow fighters believed that his shot was a fluke, Thomas loaded up again and took aim at the trumpet major who came to the aid of the general, and sure enough, he hit him too.

Sgt. Grace

This Confederate sniper took an unreal shot on May 9th 1864 when he took down General John Sedgwick from 1,000 yards out with his British Whitworth Rifle. The irony is that before getting shot, Sedgwick was quoted as telling his men, who were ducking for cover, that they couldn’t hit an elephant from that distance.

Corporal Francis Pegahmagabow

With 378 confirmed kills and over 300 captures in WWI, this Ojibwa warrior was one of the most accurate snipers in WWI.

Adelbert F. Waldron

With 109 confirmed kills, Waldron was one of the most decorated snipers in Army history. He possessed an unbelievably accurate shot, even taking out a Vietcong from the top of a coconut tree while on a moving platform.

Rob Furlong

Rob Furlong was a corporal of the Canadian Forces when he took someone out from 2,430 metres (1.51 miles) with his .50-caliber McMillan Brothers Tac-50 Rifle. He held the record for the longest shot ever for 6 years.

Charles ‘Chuck’ Mawhinney

In 16 months with the U.S. Marine Corps in Vietnam, Chuck had 103 confirmed kills. A record of confirmed kills for the Vietnam War.

Carlos Norman Hathcock II

Nicknamed ‘White Feather,” Carlos has a total of 93 confirmed kills. He wreaked so much havoc in Vietnam that their army put a $30,000 bounty on his head for getting rid of so many of their guys. He also fired an insane shot that went through the scope of the enemy sniper and right into his eye. He was crawling along looking for an enemy sniper who had already taken out a few fellow marines, and happened to catch a glance of the reflection from the other guys’ scope. He fired immediately, landing one of the most accurate shots ever.

Chris Kyle

Chris Kyle was a NAVY seal veteran who not only served 4 tours in Iraq but was awarded several medals and awards for his acts of bravery and heroism. He has an unbelievable 160 confirmed kills to his name, the most by any American sniper, ever.

Vasily Zaytsev

Zaytsev has 242 confirmed sniper kills. He was so good that he started to train his own snipers, and the ‘graduates’ of his school went on to kill over 3,000 enemy soldiers.

Lyudmila Pavlichenko

This female sniper joined the Red Army infantry when Nazi Germany was invading the Soviet Union. She managed to collect 309 confirmed kills as one of 2000 female snipers for the Soviet.

Simo Häyhä

This Finnish soldier, who by the way is nick named ‘The White Death,’ has the most confirmed kills by a sniper in any war ever. Quite the resume for this fella. He killed a total of 705 enemies, 505 being with an iron sighted bolt action rifle, and the other 200 with a sub-machine gun. The most impressive thing is that most of these kills were done while he spent all day and night alone in the freezing snow, shooting down any Russian enemies he could see.
