Jets not only fly transporting passengers from one country to another. Airplanes are also used like hotels and even houses. It looks pretty exotic to stay in such a luxurious jet room, doesn’t it? ![]()
This flying-sailing “monster” was built by Russians in the former USSR. At those times Russians seemed to know how to make water planes look like huge iron “pterosaurs”. I wonder how safe this tank-ship-bird must have been. See more pictures after the break.
![]() The base in these photos is home to the 309th Aerospace Maintenance And Regeneration Group (309 AMARG) which repairs some of the aircraft and even gets some of them flying again. Electronics, wiring, munitions, and engines are all recycled to help reduce the cost of maintaining today’s fleet. The U.S. government even allows the military in other countries to buy parts and planes from the site. The facility is the size of 1,300 football fields. The desert is a perfect place to store the mass of steel, because the small amount of rainfall means low humidity which means very little rust occurs. ![]() These photos by Martin Rietze appear to be of landscapes from another planet. These luxury accommodations that have all the accoutrements of a luxury hotel are provided courtesy of a Cold War era East German airplane that has been turned into a hotel which is located at Teuge Airport, Netherlands. To accomplish this task, he spent 6,000 hours during three years on it. It is built on a 1/16 scale and what is amazing is that every part is fully functional!!! He has spent more than 20 years on his creation of a Pan Am cabin and he estimates he has spent around $50,000 on the project. I think it’s pretty well done, but I would never spend $50k and 20 years of my life for that… ![]() Two Canadian fishermen decided to fly fishing on their private plane, but nothing happened the way they planned. The bear smelled the fish and threw itself on the plane. What a tremendous strength, just look what he did with it. ![]() It happened in Russia. Though the engine was damaged, it wasn’t a problem to land. But it was impossible to take off, they had to fix the problem right on place. They did not even repair the engine, they put a brand new one from Air France. The difficult part was to work outside and the weather was pretty cold.
