Jeff Bridges and George Clooney were competing, among others, for the Best Actor Oscar 2010 but it’s Jeff Bridges who won the Oscar! And I’m not sure George Clooney was very happy about it. As there are cameras almost everywhere in the room, the 2 actors were constantly filmed and their comical expressions too! And that’s where it gets funny… Look at the gifs inside the post to see what I mean. ![]() The Sky Bridge is located in the Langkawi archipelago in Malaysia. It is a cable-stayed bridge that rises 700 meters above sea level and spans over 125 meters in length and 1,8 meters in width. It is supported by only one support column. The bridge offers an amazing view over the island. ![]() ‘Moscow Bridge’ is one of the main road bridges across the Dnieper River in Kiev. Its length is 816 meters. The author of these photos climbed to the top of the bridge (about 115 meters) and made these stunning photographs. Inside the post, you will see not only the bridge, but the magnificent panorama of the city of Kiev. ![]() Warning: the video inside the post is shocking! Not for faint hearted! Here is the sad and cruel story: a Lithuanian asshole threw a dog over a bridge and laughed at it with his friends while the poor creature crushed on the ground few meters down. They were stupid enough to film it and upload it on the web! This story shocked the whole web and I think a lot of people wished they could do the same to this retard… Apparently the guy went to the authorities when he learnt the mediatisation of his acts. He has been arrested and risks (only) 1 year of prison now, but he has been released ‘til the trial. The dog miraculously survived the accident and vets took care of the dog but it sadly succumbed to its wounds on Saturday night… You will see some pics of the guy and some of the dog when he was recovering plus the video that caused the controversy inside the post. ![]() Some residents of a Chinese town should cross such a dangerous bridge everyday. And it is not only its horrible condition, it is the very construction of the bridge that is really weird. ![]() That’s how 6 thousand of Australians started their Sunday morning. The bridge was closed to traffic and was covered with the freshly laid grass for families to enjoy their picnic as part of a food festival. 190,000 people wanted to participate in this event but only 6,000 could enjoy it. I would definitely like to visit it. I wouldn’t even mind to get up early ;) ![]() This guy is nuts! Look at what he’s doing on his free time. Not for the ones who have vertigo! ![]() His wife left him and filed for divorce, except that she prohibited her ex-husband seeing his four-year old daughter. He did not find anything better than to take his little girl and go jump off a bridge. After two hours of negotiations the rescuers managed to take them from the bridge, though it was done with difficulty. As they say, all’s well when all ends well. But the number of such suicidal attempts in China is frightening. ![]() I don’t know what made this guy to get on that bridge, but he did quite a show out there. More about it after the jump. ![]() “In the depths of north-eastern India, in one of the wettest places on earth, bridges aren't built - they're grown.” That sums up pretty well the idea of this post, here, the bridges are 100% natural. Some of those bridges can be over a hundred feet long and they require 10 to 15 years to be fully functional. Some are really old (like hundreds of years) but they become stronger with years… Look at those amazing shots inside the post. ![]() The construction of the Colorado River Bridge over Hoover Dam continues and the opening is planned in 2010. It is a real mega construction, the total length of the bridge will be 579 meters and the height will be 256 meters above the Colorado River. The bridge will give a magnificent view on the dam and will be open not only for motorists but for pedestrians too. ![]() Well, you know what is student binge drinking… ) The students went on Sunday to a party named Suicide Sunday and they drank heavily. As it was hot that day and there was plenty of drinking games, many of the students became drunk and vomited everywhere. ![]() I have an impression that it happens all the time... ![]() This incident happened in Guangzhou, China. A man threatening to commit suicide by jumping from a bridge was pushed by passer-by! Lai Jiansheng, 66, said he was fed up with the desperate man's "selfish activity" which caused huge traffic jams, so he pushed the guy over the edge. Chen Fuchao fell 26ft (8m) on to an air cushion and is recovering in hospital, the official Xinhua news agency said. Xinhua said Mr Lai was "taken away by police", but gave no further details. ![]() Here’s how they do to build big parts of bridges. What did really astonish me is the Monster Truck that transports it all! ![]() An interesting excursion to the Aviation Museum located in the County of Cambridge of eastern England. This museum is located at the former military base that was used in both world wars. Well, look. ![]() It is even difficult to call these ropes and sticks bridges. But people walk there every day! It’s scary just to look at them let alone take a step. ![]() The day before yesterday we had one picture from this series. I’ve been thinking a lot about how this could happen? And then, I found all the pictures of this accident. The answer was easy. On this slight slope the truck couldn’t turn and crashed into a concrete guardrail and started falling down. It was a real miracle that the truck actually hung on the railing and didn’t fall. ![]() How do you think what is it? ![]() |
