Steve Gschmeissner, 61, a retired scientist and photographer from Bedford, was able to increase the size of these insects by one million times using a scanning electron microscope. The results are amazing close up 3D photos of these insects.

These are ways to supposedly make insects edible. They are still not very appetizing. Apparently, there is an entire culinary art that is dedicated to making insects delicious. You can judge for yourself.
Fireflies are strange little insects using bioluminescence to attract mates or preys, they are indeed capable of producing a ‘cold light’ generally green or yellow.
It’s truly fascinating and beautiful.

These sushi have a surprise. The question is if you can eat them…
You’ll see what a guy who took these pictures saw in his yard.
If I were him, I would sell the house and would leave far far away from this place…
These are pictures of different insect swarms noticed all around the world during different time period. From locusts to butterflies, mosquitoes to bees, there are also various ants, gnats, bugs and many others. Normally, nothing special about them, but when you see them in such amount it becomes kinda spooky…

It appears from these photos that scientists are really making bionic animals and insects. I wonder which of these concepts might really make it from Photoshop to the engineering lab. Perhaps someday someone will make these science fiction animals and insects a reality.

These original photographs by Artur Celes represent some of the most amazing pictures of insects and small animals I have ever seen. The detail is truly remarkable and leaves little to the imagination. The photographer who took these photos truly has a gift.

Another set of beautiful macro pictures about nature and animals, mostly insects.
Very interesting to see, so take a look!
These insects are called the Phasmatodea and there are plenty members of them: stick insects (in Europe), walking sticks or stick-bugs (in the US), ghost insects and leaf insects.
I wouldn’t like someone makes a joke on me using one of these insects ;))
The pictures of different insects that can shoot in movies about aliens :)))))
Some of the faces are so funny.
