The City of San Francisco has recently put a cul-de-sac on sale, without knowing that most of it's residents were multi-millionaires. Now Tina Lam and Michael Cheng have bought the street and sidewalks and demand payments for "renting the parking spaces and the common ground", leaving wealthiest people in the city in peril.
Magic is a new message-based delivery service that opened a week ago in San Francisco, it allows you to order pretty much everything, as long as it's legal, without having to move your butt.
Photographer Shawn Clover skillfully amalgamated the pictures of the devastating San Francisco earthquake of 1906 with the modern-day photographs that he had taken from exactly the same spots.
Definitely his most impressive Gymkhana yet. Previously: Gymkhana 2.1, the infomercial, the megamercial and Ken Block at l'Autodrome de Lina in France. Feat. Travis Pastrana (dirtbike)
Hsin-Yao Tseng is completely in love with the bright lights of San Francisco, which is why all of his amazing paintings feature this iconic city. Check out his handy work first hand.
This is one of the most amazing lofts I've ever seen. You can play basketball in there and if you like plants then you can even have a living tree in the floor. And that's not it. Check out the pictures after the jump.
This is what you would call your basic restaurant in a bus. It travels around the hills of San Francisco and offers eight different dishes. It is a 1989 Ford Ward school bus called Le Truc. By the way, a sandwich costs $8.
This is the 2010 medical cannabis competition held in San Francisco. From the size of the dubie that was being passed around, everybody was apparently having a good time. I do wonder what ailments all these people suffer from.
There are many abandoned buildings in San Francisco. Here are the photos of some of them which were taken by photographer Joseph Schell. Judging from all the graffiti, apparently all these places continue to have visitors from time to time although they have long been vacated. I'd love to visit some of them.
A girl named Brody figured out how to stand out from the crowd of Santa Claus’ during their march in San Francisco. And frankly, she did manage to stand out from the crowd, see for yourself.
Andy and Pike, 2 polar bears at the San Francisco Zoo had a nice gift for the first day of winter. Indeed, 10 tons of donated ice was turned in snow and shot into their exhibit to create a fun playground on December 21. Look how happy they are, it’s the best gift they could offer to those two polar bears, except freedom and real snow…
The test is very simple: if after viewing these photos you get motion sick, it is better not to go there )) Personally I didn’t get motion sick, but it was close ;)
These salt evaporation ponds are situated in San Francisco Bay. They are shallow man-made ponds designed to produce salts from sea water or other brines. The color indicates the salinity of the ponds. In low to mid-salinity ponds, green algae are predominant. In middle to high salinity ponds, red algae are. Millions of tiny brine shrimp create an orange cast in mid-salinity ponds. Other bacteria that also contribute different tints.
Candyland, for those who don’t know (not a lot I think), is one of the most popular board games in the United States, kind of a cultural icon. Well, Candyland has come to life for a day in San Francisco last week, and not in a small version. To celebrate the 60th birthday of the game, Lombard Street was transformed on Wednesday, August 19th into a life-sized game of Candyland. Only children from UC San Francisco Children’s Hospital and the nonprofit Friends of the Children were competing. And last thing, at the end of the game, there was a delicious cake for all. Quite a sweet event for a sweet game.
