Sometimes we don't realize that the North Pole and all its inhabitants run a big danger but looking into these pictures, may bring us to reality more quickly. this "comparison" has a 60 day maximum difference so obviously the ice is larger on the later date.
Just checked from cryosphere sat images, this post is completely false. On christmas day both 2000 and 2010 the arctic basin was thoroughly frozen over. Even the bigger "january 2000" image here is totally different to the sat pics.
