Those of us who were not alive in the forties can only imagine what it looked like in real life. However, with these amazing 1941 color photos of New York City we can all enjoy those times from a much brighter perspective.

Wish people still dressed in their finery while in public. I guess people don't do it so much now because they're rebelling against the status quo, and want to be an individual (to stand out), and there's nothing wrong with that, but we didn't used to wear suits and hats and dresses in public because we were brainwashed; we did it for each other. A well-dressed public feels more civilized.
