In Neenah, Wisconsin, this family found a fully stocked Cold War hideout in their house, 10 years after they moved in. The supplies were enough to feed a family for two weeks.

The people that owned the house previously must have been stocking that thing up until the 1970's because that packaging is from the late 1960's.

Junk food is high in calorie to size ratio versus more healthy options. It also has a long shelf life. It would make sense for a shelter where you would spend only 2-3 weeks until the worst of the radiation subsided.

yea it's not the worst choice. powdered stuff and hard candies makes some sense. anything with oils in it (which is most food) would go rancid.
