Jón Gnarr is the current mayor of Iceland's capital city Reykjavík and there is a lot about him that makes him different from normal politicians.
For starters, Jón didn’t go to university but is instead a comedian and an actor and as a teenager played bass in a punk band called Nefrennsli ("Runny Nose").
Before becoming mayor he worked as a taxi driver but in 2010 he successfully created his own political party, "Best Party", along with a number of other people who had no background in politics. Surprisingly, the residents of the city elected him for the post of a mayor and since his election he has been a source of amusement and shock through his many bizarre antics. He even appeared at the 2010 Gay Pride parade as a drag queen amongst other things!
