World Population Review crunched the numbers to show us the biggest drinkers of 2020. They found each country’s beer, wine, and spirits consumption per capita and converted the numbers to the pure alcohol consumption of each of these drinks. For example, one handle of vodka (1.75 liters) is about 300 milliliters of pure alcohol.
1. Belarus (14.4 liters)
Belarus takes the crown for the most alcohol in the world of 14.4 liters per person per year. That comes to about 48 handles of vodka per person per year. There are only 52 weeks in the year. I’m getting a hangover just typing this.
2. Lithuania (12.9 liters)
3. Grenada (11.9 liters)
4. Czech Republic (11.8 liters)
5. France (11.8 liters)
6. Russia (11.5 liters)
7. Ireland (11.4 liters)
8. Luxembourg (11.4 liters)
9. Slovakia (11.4 liters)
10. Germany (11.3 liters)
25. And waaaay down the list is the good old US of A (8.3 liters)
They're still here. Shreveport, LA.
F@#king close to water
Agreed. the US has countless, world class, micro breweries. And the larger ones, like Budweiser, arent even american. I think bud is Inbev, which is belgian
It's 14.4 litres of pure alcohol. Do the math and you'll get 48 handles of ~17% :) vodka.
Vodka is not 17%, it is usually minimum 37,5% in Europe...
Minimum 40% or 80 proof if you want in the US.
15ml pure alcohol is circa 40ml vodka at 40% (1 unit of alcohol here where I live)
so 48 of those big bottles is more like 22 if you do the math....
The US is still taking care of business
Dou you think that those countries are "the rest of the world"?
300 milliliters of pure alcohol.
Exactly ... who did the math? I could see converting from Quarts to liters being confusing, but when it's all metric...WTF?
