No. Some big cities (Chicago, LA, Detroit, Baltimore) are dangerous but not the rest of the country. Interestingly enough, those places (including Boulder CO) have extremely tight gun control laws...which do nothing to modify the culture which allows mayhem.

I would say that the way Americans look at Florida is the way that America looks at the rest of the world, but that would be false.
That would imply that we give a darn what the rest of the world thinks about us. Today's helpful hint: we don't.
I don't even want to visit. Why would I? I have a save job where I can't get fired without a reason, I have payed sick leave and free health care and there is an extremely low chance to get shot. And I could go on with this.
