Further, the political stance of Dem and Rep in USA has changed and developed since formation of that nation (and particularly since the revolution) - which is what any sane person would hope.
As such, yes - the current Rep party has strong white supremacist themes in both voter suppression and access to government services.

The Leftists are masters of rewriting history and mangling the language. They called themselves 'progressives' in the early 20th century. When that term became unpopular due to Americans' hatred for socialists/Marxists, they took over the term 'liberals'. The actual liberals had to then call themselves 'libertarians'. Once the Left ruined the name 'liberals', they began to switch back to 'progressives'. Now they use both terms interchangeably.
