In the US, they've corrupted the system of government. Due to their influence it's now legal to secretly bribe elected officials (dark money to PACs) and they do so with abandon. Due to this, the top 1% now control more assets than the entire middle class (as of maybe 2019?). And the trend is accelerating. No moral judgement on my part, since it's just numbers and pretty much everyone is as greedy as they can get away with, rich and poor. But it's not sustainable.

My understanding is that snowflakes form in extremely challenging conditions, with very low temperatures and high wind shear, to create a unique and intricate crystalline structure which then is buffeted and plummets thousands of meters to impact the ground where all their 'brethren' have fallen - truly amazing what a snowflake endures, when you think of it...
So, can you tell me why snowflake is a pejorative?

Then they become dirty from environmental particulate.
Then they melt into slushy oblivion.
Seems pretty normal. Certainly not pejorative worthy.
Now, if you swapped in '45'er man-child' it would look like:

You may be confusing capitalism with the enlightenment. That is the underlying cause of overall life improvements. Much of this improvement has happened under capitalism, but much of it under other economic forms as well. Capitalism simply maximizes profits. That maximization can have positive outcomes on the common good, but it can just as well be negative.
