WAR IN UKRAINE (8 PICS + 13 GIFS)

Posted in RANDOM       1 Mar 2022       9170       152 GALLERY VIEW

Most of the Izismile team members live and work in Kyiv, Ukraine. As you know now we have a war in our country started by the Russian Federation. They attacked us six days ago. Every day our cities are shelled, children and adults are killed, cities and houses are bombed. When the air raid sirens are silent, we update the site as usual. When the sirens go off, we we hode in the basement. We will update Izismile, so you could get distracted from what is happening in the world of horror. We don't know what will happen next. We believe in victory and in the end of this war. This is the only post about the war on our positive entertainment site. But we can't remain silent.

Next you can read a post by our close friend on FB and see with your own eyes what we see.

I haven't posted for a while here, always busy...work, kids, life offline, you know. Coffee with friends, kids to the dentist, editing an article before publishing, giving a lecture. Now I have plenty of time...

Four days of war seem like four months. We are all tired emotionally, overwhelmed with news (can't read them anymore and cannot stop reading), sleeping, dressed to run to the basement quickly, trained to eat quickly, turn off the lights when the sun goes down. I remembered a movie I watched being a kid. A patriotic movie about brave soviet teenagers tortured by the Nazis...The only sort of teenage movies we had at that time. And I told my Mom: oh, I would have told them all the secrets... I’m not brave at all. And she said: that’s cause you sit in a warm place, eating sweets, you have everything you need. But if you have things to fight for, if you have people you can’t fail, you will be brave. Only then you’ll know what you’re made of. And my Mom was right. Now I know this for sure. It's madness, it's surreal, it's exhausting...but I’m not scared, I’m calm.

I have messages from my retired friends:
-hon, don’t make Bandera smoothies (molotov cocktails) in advance, they need to be fresh;
from my older friends:
- hey, went to the recruitment office, but there is a huge queue of volunteers;
- well, tried to donate blood but too many volunteers...
And I know these days we are tired, we feel bit nervous, we are overwhelmed with news... But we stay calm, we stay strong, we believe in our armed forces, we believe in ourselves. If our men have to shoot to protect our city, we will pass them the ammunition. We got used to checking in the mornings if our friends and family were alive. But I still can not believe this is happening.

We. Have. Actual. War.

We didn't start this war, Russia did. Eight years ago. Today Russian soldiers use banned missiles; Russia doesn’t give a shit about international agreements. Russia. Has. Started. Self-destruction. This is a point of no return. No way back. I guess we have another tough couple of nights in Kyiv. Iskander missiles over residential areas in my Kyiv and abouts.

But we are prepared. We are calm. We gonna fight. Fight hard. Fight back. We didn’t start the fire. But God forbid you come with war.

Saying, don’t make Bandera smoothies (molotov cocktails) in advance, they need to be fresh; And then wondering why soldiers shoot the citizens seems kind of weird... When the radio encourages citizens to shoot soldiers from behind, why are you surprised when citizens get shots next to the soldiers.... War is ugly. Why isn't anyone talking about negotiations so that people don't have to die if that is the only concern? Such illogical reasoning everywhere.

Ukraine, the EU or the USA don't have troops in Russia neither are they shelling Russian cities. If you honestly think Russia is not the aggressor and not 100% responsible for this war you are delusional and do not believe what your eyes tell you.

I hope leaders around the world will realise the threat a totalitarian despot like Putin is. Russia has become more and more ultranationalistic which is dangerous for every civilian inside and outside Russia. After all, we shouldn't forget that there is a significant amount of people living in Russia that suffer under him as well.
This is why it's important to vote and voice your concerns in your own country because a potential Putin is trying to get elected in everyone's homeland. Usually at the head of right-wing nationalist parties.
Most of the world supports Ukraine.

I live in the U.S.A. (Texas) and I am very moved and impressed with the people of Ukraine. Although I am 6000 miles (9650 kilometers) away, I am thinking of your bravery in the face of such overwhelming odds. I hope Putin isn't insane enough to start a nuclear war with N.A.T.O. I also know China is watching this invasion closely as they may do the same to Taiwan. If Ukraine can stop Putin maybe China will think twice before attacking Taiwan? You may have heard of the battle of the Alamo? It happened this time of the year in 1836. A few hundred men kept thousands of Mexican soldiers at bay for 2 weeks until being overrun. They lost that battle but inspired others and eventually Texas won it's independence. May you win your battle for independence! Fight on Ukraine!

I love your site. It is an oasis of fun in a horrible world. Thank you for all the smiles you've given me over the years. Putin should not have attacked Ukraine, as he had many other avenues to exert pressure to stop the Ukrainian central government from attacking ethnically Russian populations in eastern Ukraine, assisted by a large contingent of ultra-nationalist neo-nazi militias such as the Azov Battalion. It's a shame that Zelenskyy did not honor the Minsk accords, and it's also a shame that the US has continued to pressure Ukraine into NATO membership, since NATO membership requires that you allow the US to build military bases in your country, and for some strange reason, Russia doesn't want US missiles on its borders any more than the US wants Russian missiles in Cuba. This conflict was preventable at every step, starting with Bush Senior's broken promise in 1994 that NATO would not expand even one inch eastward. Putin's actions are deplorable, but it is important to note that he is escalating a conflict that already existed. There is plenty of blame to go around.

Genuinely interesting to hear your voice and it is interesting to hear your perspective. The problem you have Ignatias is Putin is not elected… and arguably has not been for a while. No matter the situation, a country has the right to not be run by an unelected dictator, no matter how bullied Russia feels they have been. Every country has a right to voice an opinion different to Putin.
There have not been and were not forces amassing to threaten Russia, it was quite the other way around. So I guess I would say please also make sure your propaganda has not affected you as for sure we are effected too, luckily we have history, satellite images, multiple sources which provides enough evidence to amas this perspective from the west.

Dear izismilers. I'm visiting your website for years now and did not know you live in Kyiv. I'm ... shocked. Really. I live in Germany.
Do you want to leave the country? If yes, can you reach the polish border? I would try to organize a passage to Germany. Google Maps says it's 12 hours from my home to Przemysl in Poland near the Ukrainian border. Maybe I can drive by myself.
Two days ago my neigborhood started a small privately organized trip to the border to rescue friends. I bet we can do it again, only small groups of course. We don't have large busses. Yet.

I'm from the EU. Ukraine is a couple of borders away and even if they were on a different continent, I'd still wish for peace in their country, just as I'd wish for peace in Russia, Afganistan, Irak, Iran, Serbia, Bosnia, USA... It doesn't matter where you're from, you deserve to live in peace and prosper. There is no righteous war to be fought on this whole planet! Not today! Most of the world is civilized and most of the world lives more or less the same way as you, no matter where you're from.

Our country joined NATO without any real reason, we weren't a threat to anyone, nor threatend by anyone, but we had a few sold out leaders at the time (we still do and just can't get rid of them, their endless greed and thier anger spreading mentality), therefore, when the time came, our country also had to contribute to financing a war as well as provide soliders in Afganistan... A lot of my countryman don't even know where Afganistan is, nor why it was at war, but our tax payers money and our soliders still had to take part, which means, that just by going to work, and doing my thing and paying taxes, I was providing an army with means to destroy people's lives that I didn't know, had nothing against, nor did I want any harm to be done against them. But it still happened, and no one asked me anything!

What they are and how they behave is entirely our creation and we should be aware of that! We're not living in a Tarrantino movie. This is real life and it's possible that we could become a part of a rounded number in a history book with this kind of ignorance.

If you're looking for peace, join a trade agreement or something, not a war allience. Respect your fellow man, his race and culture, be kind, loving and considerate, and maybe we'll have a world to live out our lives in. That's my 2 cents

Armilda,
i do all the things you said and despite there's still wars... Russia _decided_ to invate the Ukraine because they want a buffer between them and Nato, it's that simple. From the east of Ukraine it's 8 hours by car to Moscow, _of course_ they don't like that. And now Russia's in a war they propably won't win in months or years costing them money. If they further kill civillians Nato might well react a little bit pissed, Putin f@#ked up in a way he doesn't seem to understand yet! This is gonna end ugly one way or the other. I'd prefer not ending as radioactive dust but i'd prefer no war at all either, and look where we are now. sm_80

Peace for all the earth.

Can you explain me why exactly Ukraine killed 14 000 ukrainians since 2014 ? Not just because they are russian speaking ? Not just because de Donbas had declare independence ?

Why the nazi Azov Bataillon is part of the National Guard of Ukrain ? Why this group has a summer camp to train children in the use of weapons?
-wiki, Azov Bataillon

Peace for ALL the earth.

They don't want to know that. What Russia do now is inexcusable. What they did before too. As long as people support the evil in their own country war will never come to an end.

Do you have any sources, other than Putin and the media he controls, that confirms there are 14000 ukrainians killed i Donbas?

Looking through some of the comments it seems that at least the Russian-Troll-Industrie is still healthy (in contrast to their badly managed sh#thole they call Motherland), so way to go.

I’m shocked and horrified by what is happening right now! It’s surreal, it’s illogical and most of all a threat to all mankind. I hope this fu#%#g lunatic and psychopath dictator will soon get what he deserve and quickly end like another in the past, like die alone in a bunker, good riddance!
Here in France, we all support Ukrainian people, stay safe and strong.
Courage les gars!

Stay strong you all. The world changed a few days ago. Eyes are opened. The world is united as never before: we do not want war. Let us all express this in daily live, and when you vote for your leader. In the mean time open your heart and help those who need it.

In the USA it is increasingly difficult to believe what we read because everything written has a political spin on it. It’s very frustrating actually.
