First and foremost, any McMansion.

If you lived in the suburbs, there was always a neighborhood with new builds and 50 identical homes that looked like this.

A refrigerator that looked like a cabinet made of dark, heavy wood.

Overly ornate iron handrails.

A Bowflex machine just chilling in the middle of a room.

Izismile Videos

"A massive wooden display case to showcase your huge CD collection."

A large armoire to hold your large, boxy TV.

Just, like, a chunky TV in general.

An extremely large home computer desk that took up half a room.

A very large stereo system no one but your parents were allowed to touch.

That large stereo system was hooked up to two very large wooden speakers.

Whitewashed oak cabinets in the kitchen, that usually had brass or brass and porcelain hardware with them.

A chunky wooden coffee table that looked something like this.

A "modern" looking lamp that was usually on a desk.

A ceramic face mask.

Wrought iron candle holders you never lit in the dining room as if you lived in some kind of Medieval castle.

A decorative display plate — which was NOT meant to be eaten off.

Blonde wood furniture.

Decorative herb-infused olive oil bottles cluttered and dusty on a window sill.

A large collection of chunky VHS tapes on display.

A model-train room.

A massive Beanie Baby collection on display, with, of course, a Princess Diana Beanie Baby.

A very large SUV in the driveway.

A fountain or bird bath.

Glass art vases.

An iPod dock built into the wall and would connect with the surround sound.

A basement bar.

An old-timey popcorn machine.

A dark bathroom that looked like this:

A tub of Mentadent proudly on display in the bathroom.

Anything from the Sharper Image store.

And last but not least, a large gumball machine.

I think you nailed it. The entry has the distinct odor of jealousy.

“A very large SUV in the driveway” - how does that have anything to do with the early 2000s? My neighbor just bought a brand new Yukon.

“A large stereo with large wooden speakers” - whoever said that has never had the pleasure of listening to Pink Floyd or AC/DC on a real stereo - AirPods are nice but Klipschorns are on a whole different level.

Leslie,

Agreed! Bang & Olufsen gear over here. Nothing comes close. Especially AirPods and BEATS!

#26 I've always wanted a basement bar. Instead, I sit at my computer looking at Izismile and drinking beer. Probably better off this way.

Who has a problem with brass or porcelain drawer pulls? Get a life.

Elsey,
#9 is a rack system; you can do better. Get components from the 70's - they're still out there, and will likely last forever.

these are all American things. It always baffles me that all those homes in LA or whatever look the same, sort of influenced by Spain or Tuscany/Italy in the design.
Arched doors, Terracotta colors, curly iron decors etc.

...and what exactly is wrong with a model railroad room?? The hobby has been around since the forties if not sooner.
