nah you forgot to add in rampant immigration, demands on free housing, buying on credit was just starting, stimulus spending, CDOs etc. but not inflation!!
Well in Hungary a house like that cost 50-60kk, avg income 0.35kk, and it is 12-14 years of income.
Me and my wife we got 0.75k/month income and the rent and the food and the cost to go to work not including clothing cost me 0.61/month. We don't go to summer vacation, we work on weekends too.
BTW my wife is engineer at Samsung and I'm and engineer at Ericsson.
If you can have a house for 20 month of income or rent is less than 1/3 of your income, you are richer than 70% of Hungary.
To add to your point, both houses offered in the only 1 bathroom. These look like they were meant as starter homes and probably with very little space.
