Well, that's how it is. What you are self conscious and ashamed about will probably not matter or could even be attractive to others.
Going bald for example isn't that big of an issue for most people. But if you are insecure about it, it's all you see in the mirror.
He probably doesn't think the teeth are a big deal so he doesn't care about it.

whenever i see "depression" and a dirty room i just think of laziness... im 38 and i have never had a room this messy no matter what... wassat
its like almost every badly behaved child is now because of the ADHD.

You're fortunate to not have experienced depression.
Depression is very real and it makes you lose at motivation.
