in Germany, it was called Hakenkreuz which means hook cross.
Many cultures had a swastika symbol. The symbol is not that complicated, just a cross with hooks.
The Nazis borrowed heavily from many cultures and mixed it with pseudo sience. They were basically like conspiracy theorists.

There was a Ukrainian commenter that discussed the Ukrainian Holodomor (a famine that killed millions of Ukrainians) and how the Ukrainians now wear Swastikas to scare the Russians. I wanted to learn more about Ukrainian history from him/her, but you deleted the comments?
