"Russell Crowe playing Javert in Les Misérables"
"Let’s hope the Last of Us people don’t see this"
"Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor."
"Probably that guy Jared Leto played in Blade Runner, I dunno, I have no idea what he was talking about and refused to pay attention to him."
"I love Rogue as a character. Anna Paquin did not deliver as Rogue. And I do understand that the film featured Rogue at a particularly traumatic time in her life but man… it was still a struggle because did the writing for the character give her reason to be sad and crying and afraid? Yes. But also did I have to grit my teeth to watch her? Yes"
"A bunch of posts/debate about Euron Greyjoy from Game of Thrones happening."
"Lady Galadriel in the Rings of Power. Actress has all but ruined that character for me. Sure, it was ways going to be tough to follow in Cate Blanchett’s footsteps but come on!"
"Zendaya as Chani in Dune.
Book Chani is a ride or die for Paul, killing members of the sietch who’d think to challenge Paul so that she could prove “you can’t handle him, you can’t even handle his woman”. She was an intelligent person who trusted Paul completely, and that is a direct conflict with how the movie Chani is presented. I understand that the format of a book allows for the reader to potentially pause and do some introspection and the movie might have felt like they needed to prompt it more, but I feel like her character in the movie was more of a petulant/toxic teenager than the character that was written in the books."
"Harry Potter, Daniel Radcliffe. Potter, is no nonsense, strong hero. Radcliffe a wimpy, geeky, stuttering posh weak child actor. Ruined the films."
"Everyone and Everything else from Gangs of New York is meticulously researched to be period accurate…and then here’s Cameron Diaz, fresh from a sassy rom-com.role and not changing a damn thing"
"I know he’s got his fan base but Dave Bautista as Rabban was a hard pass for me. Christopher Walken as the Emperor was also weird. I was sceptical about Jason Momoa for Duncan Idaho too but it was not bad considering what of Idaho they cut from the early story. They wrote him less complicated so Momoa only had to sell being a loyal, hyper-competent warrior. But Bautista as Rabban really didn’t work imo."
"Honestly, I didn’t love Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen. Her acting wasn’t terrible, but I didn’t think there was a lot of depth.
To be fair, a lot of Katniss’s depth and observations were part of her internal monologue, which wasn’t in the movies"
''Asa Butterfield as Ender Wiggin.
A horrible casting decision, but did nothing to convince me he had the heart or depth to play Ender.''
"Jared “I run a cult” Leto as the Joker. Granted, that particular film isn’t great, but in a more skillful actor’s hands it would have at least been interesting."
