These photos were taken by the German photographer Juergen Chill. They show the remarkable likenesses between a brothel and a prison cell. As much as they are alike I still think I would prefer the brothel.

There is a creepy crypt under a church in Rome that has two names, Our Lady of the Conception of the Capuchins and Santa Maria della Concezione. This church’s designer was Antonio Casoni. The crypt is decorated with skeletal remains that once belonged to 4,000 friars and were collected between 1528 and 1870. Now these human bones are arranged in ornaments. This Capuchin Crypt is a well-known ossuary that attracts tourists from all over the world. It has several rooms, and you can glance inside them after the jump.

The Craziest Soccer Tattoo (9 pics)

Meet the real soccer fan of Atletico Nacional team. Felipe Alvares is 25 years old, and he is in love with soccer. Thus he decided to make a tattoo in honor of Columbian soccer player Andres Escobar who was murdered in 1994. People still think Mr. Escobar died because some powerful drug lords had a bet on the 1994 FIFA World Cup, the game in which Columbia lost 1:2 to the USA. That tournament should be in history by now, but Felipe’s crazy tattoo probably reminds him of that big loss.

Bad Way to Advertise Your Services (5 pics)

In China, a cheap form of advertising like writing on the walls and pedestrian crossings is very popular. So plumbers, tailors and other craftsmen involved in handicraft leave their phone numbers and addresses this way. But this kind of advertising is banned, therefore the police have to deal with it. So all of these self-entrepreneurs have already experienced the hard way that it’s better not to mess with the Chinese police..

Another Supersized Kid (5 pics)

Posted in PICTURES       13 Oct 2010       28635

You should see this 3-year-old boy. He is so young, and so super-sized that some nurseries ban him for being a "health hazard" to other children. While most average kids of this age are only about two stone, Xiao Hao’s weight is 5 times heavier. According to some medics, this child might have a growth hormone disorder. Other people believe he is just a victim of China's "Little Emperor" syndrome as parents in this country are allowed only one child. And their relatives spoil rotten babies.

Amazing Rescue after Spending Two Months Underground (36 pics)

Posted in PICTURES       13 Oct 2010       7730

33 miners were trapped at San Jose mine in Copiapo for more than two months. They were sealed 2,041-foot into the mine's lower reaches by a collapse of 700,000 tons of rock. Finally, these men were hoisted to the surface in a rescue capsule on October 12-13. The Chilean emergency workers and President Sebastian Pinera met them on the ground. Residents and pedestrians watched the rescue on a large screen in a public square and on TVs in electronics store. No one in recorded history has survived as long trapped underground as these 33 miners. For the first two weeks, no one even knew whether they were alive.

The Value of a Dollar (19 pics)

Posted in PICTURES       12 Oct 2010       17756

When Jonathan Blaustein purchased 10 early-season organic blueberries for $1, he was a little upset by this price, because six weeks earlier he had purchased 17 organic blueberries from Chile for the same amount of money. And those blueberries from Chile were from 800 miles away but were half the cost of California berries.

Eventually, after seeing many different menus around the world with various dollar-priced meals, photographer Mr. Blaustein, 36, decided to pursue a project “The Value of a Dollar”.

So, what food can you buy if you only have $1 in your wallet? See these photos taken by Mr. Blaustein and find out the answer.
