The Batillus class supertankers are the largest vessels by gross tonnage ever built. There were 4 of them, each at 555,000 metric tons DWT, constructed by France in the 1970s. A gross tonnage of Batillus is 275,276 tons. Still, if considering fully-loaded displacement, the Batillus ships don’t hold the world’s record. They are edged out by the Seawise Giant ship that serves as an oil tanker. Still, the Batillus class ships are records for tankers (with the depth of 36 meters and full load draft of 28.5 meters), and, inside this post, you can see how these largest ships were built.

These are very humorous signs that were apparently found around various towns. Some are advertisements by some rather well known companies and others were created by proprietors of a local business. In either case the author of these signs should have known better. 

These are a unique combination of an artist’s sketch and a photograph. Some of the sketches blend in with the photograph and others humorously complement them. In either case they are very amusing and interesting. The artist Ben Heine is simply a genius.

The former Ohio Edison Mad River Power Plant's smoke stake that was 275 feet tall fell the wrong way and crushed the surrounding buildings during the demolition process. The tower also knocked down two power lines and caused the power loss in the city for two hours. It all happened because the demolition company didn’t detect a crack on one side of the tower. Luckily, no one was hurt because of this mistake.

This is supposedly a unique way to warm your pizza at the office. It appears that you simply place your slices of pizza in a chamber beneath your Mac computer and it will warm while you are working. It looks real but I don’t know.

A hurt heart and hot head will make your life miserable. That is exactly what happened to this heart broken guy in PA.

This 63 foot yacht has a solid mahogany hull and it delivers an unusually smooth ride even at the top speed of 40 knots. No screws are visible at any point and nor is any plastic. It seems that Art of Kinetik has a great team of engineers, designers, naval architects and craftsmen.

Jonathan Duhamel is the first French speaking Canadian to win the World Series of Poker. He defeated John Racener of the United States and won $86,000,000 at the Rio hotel casino in Las Vegas. He was a very happy camper.

These are some very funny newspaper mistakes and apologies. They are very embarrassing for both the person(s) being written about and the newspaper. I would think that some copyright editors heard an earful when these went to print.

Everyone can recognize a coke can at fifty feet. It is an American icon. Coke has roots that dig deep. They first began bottling this giant of colas in 1886 in the backyard of a pharmacist in Atlanta Ga. John Pemberton is the man that brewed this concoction for the first time.

They use a sickle to give haircuts in this Chinese village. It looks very scary and very dangerous. Undoubtedly, the person getting the haircut must have a tremendous amount of faith in his barber.

These are the Ellora Caves that were built sometime between the 5th and the 10th centuries. They are located close to the ancient Indian village of Ellora. They are a famous archaeological site and are massively huge.
