Driving one of these classic rally cars meant you would be facing a great deal of breakdowns and malfunctioning car parts. Crashes were the norm, and pit crews were non-existent, but brave men continued to race these rattling death vehicles all over the country.
As Frank said if you can make it here, you can make it anywhere. These retro photos show some of the history of this bigger than big city.
Advertising and packaging are always a sure way to view a small time capsule from the past. These fantastic retro images will bring back the good ole days, or after viewing them you might be glad that we have forgotten the past and move forward to the future with new ideas in marketing and advertising design.
Those who dislike nowadays ads and commercials have never seen a vintage ad of the 50-s. The kids from the posters, supposed to look cute, are absolutely spooky! I dare say parents used to terrify their disobedient children with those ad pictures. And one more thing I wonder about - did the companies make any profit with those ads?!

I love this set of old photos with all these great stunts. Maybe stunts today seem more spectacular but they don’t have that thing that makes them believable and in most cases computer graphics are used.
Here, there’s no green screen or security equipment. They only have two options: whether they succeed or they fail. Real daredevils from back then.

I know that a lot has changed compared to the 50’s and that our society was quite sexist but I didn’t know that it was sexist to that extent.
But despite all the sexism in the ads they are also funny. Don’t get me wrong, I mean, it’s a good thing that we evolve and can laugh at our stupidities made in the past. I am pretty sure, our descendants will laugh at our today’s stupidities in the future.
The photos of these vintage postcards in this post are quite unusual. While the landscape appears quite normal, not all of the participants in the drawings are. They make for some very unusual postcards indeed.
