It is already a nearly 16-year-long fight — longer than any other US foreign war and most other military operations, and the US is still not winning against the forces of Taliban. There are currently 8400 US troops, and Trump administration is planning on sending 5000 more there to support Afghan units fighting the Taliban, as well as to counter ISIS and Al Qaeda elements.

This is a driving school in Kabul, Afghanistan. Well, at least they have it.
This letter was left by a soldier for his young daughter. He died in Afghanistan.
These weapons were all confiscated from the Taliban in Afghanistan. They are indeed well armed for war. They have every kind of weapon imaginable. The Taliban remain a serious threat to peace in that area of the world.
The many years of war have left many scars on the country of Afghanistan. The people look tired and like they are ready for peace. Even the people selling their goods in the shops look like they are less than enthusiastic.
A lot can change in 16 years. But not in Afghanistan. These photos were taken by Seamus Murphy in 1994 and 2010. Even though the Taliban era is over by now, the place still looks like back in the old times.
British Defense Secretary Liam Fox called Afghanistan “a broken 13th-century country” when he visited it. His words drew fire on him. This happened not because he was wrong, but because he was way too blunt. Actually, Liam Fox wasn’t the first person to call Afghanistan a medieval country. There were people who labeled local inhabitants “barbarians with a 1200 A.D. mentality”. Many people really think that Afghanistan is an ungovernable land with chaos that would never make it out of the Middle Ages.
Still there were times when Afghanistan was a nice country where women could pursue careers in medicine, where people could go to the movies and work on the factories. This country used to produce many goods. It had a government that was able to undertake national infrastructure projects. People believed they had a future, but all their hopes were destroyed by 30 years of war.

This story started in Afghanistan and ended in the USA. Two U.S. marines found cute kitties while they were serving in South-Central Asia. People and cats became great friends, and now both animals live in America with their owners. Kitten named Kiki has moved to Houston, Texas. The other one named KeyKey lives in Detroit, Michigan. Isn’t this story cute?
Here’s what the capital of Afghanistan looked like 40 years ago.
Look how it looks like now…
Let’s start with the only zebra in the Gaza Strip!
The sad thing is that this is not a zebra but an ordinary donkey painted like a zebra...
The poor animal ... However, Palestinian children need to know what zebras look like...
Inside the post, look at the most solitary pig in the world.
Another bodybuilding contest took place in Afghanistan.
It is surprising that in a country devastated by years of war such competitions are held.
These unusual rugs are the battle rugs made in Afghanistan.
Women won’t obviously like it, but for men who like weapons it can be a cool thing!
