This is a new five-star restroom in the Bishan district of Chongqing, China. The facility is 150 square meters and has an elegant interior design as well as quality materials: like marble floors, granite imitation walls, lacquered wood doors and urinal separators, even chandeliers. A central heating system and 24-hour air-conditioning keep the place at a constant temperature of 26 degrees Celsius all the time. There is also a high-quality stereo system that plays soothing music. The five-star public restroom cost about 800,000 yuan ($115,785) to build.
The city of Ordos was built to accommodate over a million people and supposed to be a futuristic metropolis of Inner Mongolia. However, due to incompletion, the city is almost empty. Apparently, just 2% of the city’s buildings were ever filled, the rest has been left to decay. Today, Ordos is China’s largest Ghost City.
China plans to relocate 250 million people to country’s megacities. To do this, they need solid infrastructure. So, they invested billions in huge infrastructure projects. China has the population of over 1.381 billion which is constantly growing. Plus, as of 2015 the country has dropped their “one child policy.” Today, Chinese couples are allowed to have 2 children per household. The government hopes that it will help to balance the country’s demographics. In the meantime, their population will continue to grow even faster now.
