During his half-a-year solo journey, photographer Alexander Khimushin, covered 25,000 km to visit many remote locations across Siberia: from lake Baikal shores to the coast of Japan sea, from endless steppes of Mongolia to the coldest place on Earth – Yakutia. In this time, he captured lots of faces and traditions of local people that almost nobody has seen before.

On Saturday 16, in Novosibirsk, the largest city of Siberia, was the hottest day in 60 years. Forecasters recorded the temperature of almost + 24 °C (75 F). And thus the beach season was opened by skiing on and riding the bicycles the Ob Sea (artificial lake).

Would you do this at - 36C? I would never do it, I simply couldn't. But these people from a local club in Krasnoyarsk went swimming in the Yenisei River on December 12, while the air temperature was -36C. The Yenisei River goes through portions of northern Russia and Mongolia before depositing into the Arctic. I don’t know how they are doing it, but judging by the look on their faces it can be said that they enjoy it a lot…It’s just crazy! I’m freezing now.

This small island looks really cute. It is located in the middle of Artist’s Lake in Krasnoyarsk, Russian Siberia. It would be cool to visit this nice place in the summer.
