British adventurer Anthony Smith, 85, and another senior citizen crew have sailed their miniature raft that was made out of pipes that were tied together and named the An-Tiki, some 3,000 miles across the Atlantic from the Canary Islands in Portugal to St. Martin in the Caribbean. Crafting requires a certain amount of dedication and persistence and the guy in the Tatara Project had more than enough of both to pull off a very tough project. He set out to make blades out of homemade steel and the result is simply outstanding. He started off by building and running a tatara-like smelter where he consolidated five pounds of steel. He then processed the bloom and compacted it forming a bar of steel. He sorted the steel using the spark test and a flywheel press to flatten some of the chunks. He then manipulated the carbon content of the steel to create different quality bars of steel. He finished up by forge-welding and folding the different steel bars to create a billet which he forged into a sunobe and then into a blade. The final step in this tedious project was polishing the blades. The impressive final product will blow your mind.

This is Yang Youde, a farmer who lives on the outskirts of Wuhan city. Since February 2010, he was attacked by several eviction teams as he rejected a sum of $19,030 for his land. Property developers, who want to build department buildings on his land, didn’t want to pay him the sum he asked which is five times more than what they offered.
After eviction teams tried to eject him from his house, he built a canon from a wheelbarrow and pipes. He makes ammunition from locally sold fireworks. The rockets can reach over 100 metres, and explode with a deafening bang. Little is known if anyone was injured til now.
In May he held off 100 people by firing from a makeshift watchtower.
Way to go man!
