It all began with this Redditor's picture captioned as "my Russian wife was trying to say 'tape measure'", then other people shared their own experience with foreigners mistranslating stuff..
These before and after pics offer a comparison of the Californian landscape and show how two reservoirs have been affected. The first photo is the lake at almost 100% capacity and the second photos shows it at only 17%.
