I am sure that most of us imagine children’s books in colorful and bright covers that teach kids to behave and respect others. However modern and even some of the old books are concentrated on other things like sex and drugs; authors even use curse words to get your attention. We have already posted examples of unconventional books. This is another collection of pictures that is devoted to so-called inappropriate books for children.

We have already showed you a little collection of photos with sculptures and installations created by Mark Jenkins. Now we have a very big collection of this artist’s works. You might have seen some of the works already but as they are very impressive we decided to add them in this post.

Jets not only fly transporting passengers from one country to another. Airplanes are also used like hotels and even houses. It looks pretty exotic to stay in such a luxurious jet room, doesn’t it? 

There is such a rare and terrible disease Progeria - premature aging at an early age.

One gene mutates and affects the whole organism. Those born with progeria typically live about thirteen years, although many have been known to live into their late teens and early twenties and rare individuals may even reach their forties.

The disorder has a very low incidence and occurs in one per eight million live births.

Here’s Leon Botha, a guy who has progeria and who’s already 24 years old.

This is a series of photos taken by American photojournalist Steve McCurry. It is sad to see children whose destiny was to take guns and fight instead of playing with toys. These children are robbed of the most wonderful time in their lives – their childhood…

When I read an interesting fantasy or science fiction book I always try to imagine in what atmosphere it was created. Have you seen American writers’ interiors? Can you imagine their life style? I thought that writers were surrounded by silence and locked in an empty room until I saw these photos. Take a look!

Can you imagine famous classic Mario Brothers, Sonic or Metroid games repainted in a new creative style? I couldn’t believe my eyes that someone would find a way to refresh these well known scenes! I’d love to play these video games like this!

This ship model (scale 1:200) is built according to drafts and different photos found in books and at online resources (it took 2 years and 2 months to build it). The main efforts were aimed at ship functionality. Punch cards, whatman paper and other materials were used in building this model. All ship details were covered with water-resistant varnish due to what this paper model isn’t soaked in water (you can notice this on the photos). You can distantly navigate ship steering wheel and screw propellers. This model is illuminated by bulbs and light-emitting diodes. All electric equipment feeds from 6-volt accumulators set below waterline. Smoke generators are set in flues (nichrome wire is soldered in rosin). Technical problems didn’t allow taking quality pictures of the smoke, but you can still see it on some photos. All windows and portholes are covered by varnish tape in the soap-bubbles style. Jackstays and other similar ropes were made from threads; sometimes fishing lines and wire were used. The ship has 16 compartments and 11 decks. Faucets, boats and anchors are operating. I just hope it won’t drown like his “big brother”…

These pictures of psychiatric institutions in Serbia and Kosovo were made by photographer George Georgiou as a part of project “Between the Lines.” This project talks about the aftermath of the NATO conflict with Serbia. 
The author says that he was surprised to see apart from mentally ill people, people with physical disabilities who have nothing to do in these mental hospitals. The pictures also show the lack of medical care and rehabilitation for these people. In short, the photos are very sad and difficult to look at…
