Two lions Kahn and Shiela were used as attractions by an entertainment facility in Texas. They rented them for photo ops and parties. Both of them had been severely neglected and abused and were in a very bad shape. But Shiela’s condition was far worse than Khan’s and she would have probably died if they weren’t rescued by In-Sync Exotics Wildlife Rescue and Education Center.

In August, rangers in Mikumi National Park, Tanzania, managed to free this young lion after it had been caught in a poacher's snare for three years and had been kept alive by his pride, who brought him food. The lion was recently spotted making a slow recovery.
Annel Snyman, a guesthouse owner in the Waterberg region of South Africa, adopted this young lion cub 8 months ago. Fondly called, “Timba”, the lion not only lives on Annel’s farm, but also sleeps in her bed and cuddles on the couch with her and any house guests present! With a passion for wild animals, Annel applied to the Department of Nature Conservation for a permit to keep and raise them on her farm and since 2009 has hand-reared a cheetah cub, five lions, a white lion, a leopard and six Serval kittens (a medium-sized African wild cat).
