A team of Japanese scientists have found 143 new geoglyphs in the Nazca Pampa region, Peru. The Nazca Geoglyphs (also known as Nazca Lines) are a group of very large glyphs impressed into the soil of the Nazca Desert in southern Peru. These depict a variety of animals, people, plants, among other things. The glyphs date back to sometime between 500BC and 500AD and are a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Swedish sculptor and archaeologist Oscar D. Nilsson scans skulls to make vinyl-plastic replicas with a 3D-printer. Then, sex, age, weight, and ethnicity are determined. After this, it’s all up to Nilsson, who hand-sculpts the faces, muscle by muscle using plasticine clay. Once that is done, a mold is made and the face is cast in silicon.

Apparently, original Greek statues were painted with bright colors. Scientist used ultraviolet light, infrared and X-ray spectroscopy that revealed how these ancient statues looked like thousands of years ago. And the results are amazing. Have a look.
