One of the members of the Facebook group “Monolinguals are the worst” started a thread where people from different countries translated some of their native words to English WAY TOO LITERALLY.
Manchester-based designer James Chapman creates funny illustrations that are based on literal translations of well-known proverbs from around the world.
When you think about it, some idiomatic expressions are really stupid and superstitious. I never liked when I was told: “Break a leg” for luck. But they do look funny drawn :)
